Stan started studying under Pete Roberts in 2010, in his own words:

My search for the right art was a long journey.  I studied Taekwondo and Tang Soo Do karate during my high school years but my passion for those arts were lacking.  Since then, I wanted to get back into training but my goal was to find an art that would fit me both mind and body.  Wing Chun did just that.  It has become a lifestyle and not just a martial art.

Since 2010 I have been a student of Sifu Pete Roberts.   His teachings have been invaluable to me.  Additionally, towards the end of 2010, I had the opportunity to train with Sigong Rene Ng, Pete’s Sifu which was an experience I will never forget.    In my opinion, it is critical to find a good instructor, one who is not only humble and honest, but also genuine in their teachings.  I found these qualities in both Sifu Pete and Sigong Rene.  I believe a student is a reflection of his/her teacher.   If they are not humble, how can I be?  If they are not genuine, how can I be?

Towards the end of 2011, I was honored to take over Sifu Pete’s trainings temporarily.  Upon his return and with his permission I continued to hold classes on Thursdays.   Currently, I offer extra training on Thursdays and Sundays.  I love keeping the session laid back and informal, much like my Sifu’s.   You can learn at your own pace and there is no concept of a belt system unlike some arts.   I strive to make the classes fun and engaging so having a sense of humor is a must!   The other day in class, one of my kung fu brothers mentioned that he saw me walking around the grocery store while practicing footwork and I looked hilarious.   So if you happen to see some Asian guy pushing a shopping cart and doing footwork….just say “Hi!” and introduce yourself!  Happy training!

Stan was promoted to Sifu on July 11, 2013.
